Initially mascots were intended for sports team as a symbol for good luck. The mascots represented an animal or object that the team considered to bring good luck. Nearly all sports teams in the western countries have a mascot to accompany them during matches ,rally crowds behind the team ,instill some sort of fun in between games and enhance team spirit among st the supporters. In KENYA only Sofa Paka F.C has embraced the use of a team mascot for support ,create hype and earn it envy among st supporters of other teams. The wild cat mascot “Sofa Paka” has his place in the hearts of supporters. He is currently present at most matches urging the supporters and the team players back in the changing rooms. The mascot is also a great photo opportunity for the fans who are seen engaging him in high fives ,hugs ,dancing and any other creative entertainment. “Sofa Paka” also lightens the mood on the pitch and can be seen kicking balls with young football enthusiasts on pitch. Mascots are a great publicity tool for any upcoming to well established sports team in the country ,football aside ;all sports teams should e,brace the role of the mascot.
